Review: Kingston Digital MobileLite Wireless Flash Reader
Today we’re taking a look at Kingston’s Mobilelite Wireless Flash
...
A lot of fans have been repeatedly asking about the “TRON” system and before anyone else had a hernia or aneurism and I had to deal with an impatience related death on my conscience, I thought I better get my ass in gear and get the lead out with another mod log.
Our in-house tech junkie is Thrasher2 AKA Anthony (HitMan) Reynolds, the dude with more nicknames than a pro wrestler had torn down the system to its bare naked plastic and had it painted this very classy metal flake white for the basis of the TRON color scheme. That scheme being, various Blues, white and shades of black and if you missed those build logs you should first check those out here, and here, and then bounce back to this log event.
After the system was returned from the painter, it was time to begin the various processes of getting the system ready for the modifications. In order to maintain the fluidity of color and to block off some areas in the case that could potentially clash with the overall theme of the build. We used a few different materials to get started, including, 18 in. x 24 in. 4 mm Thick Plastic White Corrugated Twin Wall Sheet, High Density Polyethylene Sheet, Natural White, 0.250″ Thickness, 12″ Width, 24″ Length, Cast Acrylic Sheet – .1875″ Thick, TL White, 12″ x 24″ and finally Cast Acrylic Sheet – .125″ Thick, TP Dark Blue, 12″ x 24.
You can see in the first set of pictures how we then cut the various pieces by way of the Rockwell RK7321 Blade Runner table saw, and then installed them where they go, therefore making everything look really clean.
We had to do a few minor mods on the externalities of the case by way of painting the front lower grill and getting it to match up. Removing the front lower grill mesh and then replacing it with a cutout of Cast Acrylic Sheet, which was cut out and painted to match the rest of the system, achieved this goal.
The lights on the exterior of the case were also modded and then reinstalled onto the case to more match the TRON theme.
Next up we began fitting the various other parts into the system, seeing where they would go, and how they would fit before we start the final process of assembly and installation of the Swiftech liquid cooling system that once installed is not so simple to just remove so making sure all is right ahead of time will save tone of time having to go through the process of removing it due to a screw-up. So far the system is coming along slowly, but surely and we are hoping one-day in the next week or so it will be a finished product.
The video cards look really awesome and match the system, even better than previously anticipated and thanks to Ed at Sapphire for providing these HD 7950 bad boys for the build. Both of these cards were originally flashed as Mac based and geared for the Mac Pro series of systems, but we just flashed them to the same BIOS as their standard non-GHz edition card and moved forward, and lest be real here, finding white GPU cards is a bitch in any case as hardly anyone makes them, making these cards very unique.
Due to all the releases and projects we have ben involved in we fell a little behind in finishing this build, but we are getting very close to the final product. The next log will be about the final assembly and how she looks, and then we will do a performance review on the system.
There will be more mods done on the build during the final assembly, things like custom lighting, art work and other ‘TRON” themed things will go into the last details of this build. I thank you fans for your patience with this as many of you have emailed me asking about it and we are glad to be moving forward on this. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow; let us hear your thoughts and ideas in the comment section below. Take care, Peace. More to come so stay tuned for the next mod log.
