Xbox One Event Recap: Everything You Need To Know

Today was the big reveal for Microsoft’s new gaming console, the Xbox One and here is our complete event recap. Akin to the Wii U the name choice is a result of wanting to convey some kind of underlying philosophy of the system.

In this case, the “One” refers to how the machine will serve as an all in one device for people to be able to watch movies, play games, browse the internet, stream music, watch live television, and even skype with friends.

This philosophy was immediately reflected in how the show progressed, initially focusing on the new unit’s interface and voice commands, allowing users to not only turn on their Xbox and  switch between various programs quickly with voice alone, but also being able to simultaneously run them, such as skyping while watching tv, or browsing the internet while seeing a movie.

I have to admit, these first few moments were pretty enticing, while UI alone isn’t what I want developers to focus on for a new system, what they had to show was genuinely interesting looking and offered an experience much like what we expected from televisions of the future like something out of Back to the Future.
