Asus recently announced that it will now be employing NVIDIA G-SYNC in all of it’s new monitors, which is a pretty big deal for Nvidia gaming fans.

G-SYNC makes it so that the Monitor’s refresh rate is synchronized with the GPU’s rendering rate, meaning that images are displayed at the exact moment the GPU renders them.

This gets rid of of various display problems in a lot of games like screen tearing or stuttering without the use of performance hampering settings like V-sync.

Basically it’s all of the good when it comes to smooth visuals with none of the bad. Asus plans to incorporate G-SYNC into it’s monitors beginning in 2014, with the first planned release being an upgraded version of the VG248QE at a price point of $399 in the first half of 2014.

Although AMD is making the headlines with news regarding their so-called Titan killer, in a weird twist of events NVIDIA turned around and released information about their possible R9 290X Killer, the all-new GTX 780 Ti.

It seems kind of crazy that as AMD tries to get everyone to believe that they have the world’s fastest single GPU video card it is turning out to really be a lot of hot air and hype as well as not being the card it was rumored to be. Scores have already surfaced showing the R9 290X to be just a tad bit faster than a standard GTX 780 and in no way beating a Titan.

Looking at the leaked GPU-Z shot, GeForce GTX 780 Ti features GK110 silicon equipped with 2496 CUDA Cores, 208 TMUs and 48 ROPs.

NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-780-Ti-GPU-Z-Shot-_1

It comes with 3 GB GDDR5 memory spread across a 384-bit memory interface resulting in 288.4 GB/s memory bandwidth. There have been rumors that the GeForce GTX 780 Ti will feature 6 GB GDDR5 memory and a 512-bit memory interface in-order to counter AMD’s Radeon R9 290X at 4K resolution. I think NVIDIA is just sitting back and watching things as they unfold and just reacting to whatever happens, as they seem to be very calm cool and collective about everything right now.

Screen Shot 2013-10-21 at 12.02.23 PM

In the GPU-Z shot you can see the clock speeds of the GPU have been revealed. The GK110 GPU is clocked at 902 MHz with GPU Boost up to 954 MHz while the memory is clocked at 1502 MHz or 6 GHz effectively. When compared with GTX 780, the upcoming GTX 780 Ti has tiny bits of improvement in terms of specifications. Below is a table, which shows the comparison between GeForce GTX 780, GTX 780 Ti and GTX TITAN. AMD is most likely really pissed off right now as this was the quickest right hook they have ever received from NVIDIA who did not have to do really anything to put them back into the number 2 slot. Like always any pre-release screen shots should be taken with a grain of salt, but the tome is coming really soon when all will be unleashed and revealed to the world. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow. So what are your thoughts on this information regarding the new GTX 780 Ti is this good news, or just more infighting between the giants?

Although the official launch is still days away a few sites like I knew would have started revealing test scores of AMD’s all new R9 290X video card. Not every test it seems has been approved or condoned by AMD, but someone somewhere must have let out the stop gates as scores from at least 2 major games has surfaced showing how the card performs against a GTX 780, mind you this is not a Titan comparison, but a GTX 780.

NVIDIA just announced their own new GTX 780Ti in Canada earlier today and that might be why AMD is loosening up on NDA restraints and allowing some scores to be shown. AMD was very specific that the only numbers it’s approving come from BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider. We’re only able to show you R9 290X compared to the GTX780, and only at 3840×2160, but Toms Hardware ran the tests in their lab and this is what they have come up with thus far.

Bioshock Tomb Raider

If these benchmarks prove to be the real deal then we can see that so far the R9 290X beats the GTX780, but to me that is just really showing AMD with a pretty weak as they spread the rumor of the so called “Titan Killer” and its just beating a GTX780 by a small margin. This may not be a bad thing in the long haul though as AMD has ample time to speculate price points and if they can bring to the table a card that costs $599.99 then it will be a winner, if the card is priced at almost the exact price range some AMD fans will flock to it like moths to a flame, but for those highly anticipating something from AMD that shreds a Titan, I think they may be a bit disappointed. We will have our cards very soon and begin our own testing so until then thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow.  Lets see how you all feel in our mini poll below.

From what you have seen so far on the R9 290X what are your thoughts?

Lookout gamers here it comes the next big weapon from NVIDIA is about to see the light of day. NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that the new GTX 780 Ti will be hitting the shelves in November.

This is actually a bit weird as Jen Hsun is the big cheese and for he himself to make the announcement to me sends waves of information. Clearly NVIDIA is starting to see AMD as a bigger threat than in previous years and although he did not go into great detail about the specs and such its obvious they do not want AMD taking their lions share of the market.

This card is most likely going to be targeted at AMD’s soon to be released R9 290X card that is rumored to be the Titan killer, but NVIDIA is a very competitive company and you can bet dollars to donuts that they will remain that way. The new GTX 780 Ti should start to surface soon as reviewers from around the globe get their cards and start to test them.

It is almost inevitable that someone will break NDA and make a post sooner to the dismay to writers on an NDA, but that just seems to be the nature of the beast. NVIDIA wants to maintain your loyalty and support and I am sure we will se price drops and new cards as needed to keep them in the game. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow. Let’s see how much anticipation there is for this card in a mini poll down below. Happy Friday everyone!!!

Price drops from NVIDIA are confirmed and now some of their video card products will show a significant lower price tag. Newegg, Tiger Direct and many others should adopt these prices today. Here is the catch though; there is almost always one right? Well this time the only cards being dropped are the older 6-Series mid-level cards, hence we will see the GTX 650 Ti Boost 1GB now sell for $129.99 and the 2GB version will sell at $149.99.

This is cool and all for those on a budget or especially those folks with less than 1080p monitor as then it would really be a solid card, as is at 1080p these cards will perform fairly well at the cost of all the bells and whistles turned down a bit. They have also dropped the price on the GTX 660 to $179.99, which will play games on medium settings at 1080p really nicely. It does not seem like at the moment NVIDIA is taking AMD new cards as a threat as these price drops are all on older technology and probably just baggage to NVIDIA.

When and if we see price drops on their high-end cards start hitting the market then maybe NVIDIA will seem to take AMD’s next launch as a serious threat. NVIDIA has said that their partner companies have their blessing to sell at even lower prices than they have shared, maybe we will see a GTX 760 sell for $229.00, that would be a great start in the price war. AMD has new cards coming right around the corner and maybe if their R9 290X pans out to be the hero to the people like they have claimed we will see NVIDIA drop all their prices and make the game very interesting indeed. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow.

With every new launch one thing all users agree on is that dropping prices generates sales and for NVIDIA they make be just what the doctor ordered to help them keep selling in the wake of AMD’s new card launch. AMD has just announced their entire new card lineup the R7 and R9 series that will put a dent in NVIDIA’s sales and in an effort to combat that NVIDIA is rumored to be lowering their prices on many of their video cards.

This new rumor comes from tech site DigiTimes who claims to have sources in the industry that are saying this may become a reality in the near future. I have no problem believing it as that is a logical move for them in this situation.  A lot of the card that are being released from AMD seem to be just re-branded cards with only the R9 290X being the sole totally new card of the lineup and depending on how the cards actually do in testing will determine how determined NVIDIA is to lower the cost of their products.

NVIDIA as of now has the following four cards in their GeForce 700 series: The GTX 760, GTX 770, GTX 780 and GTX Titan, all priced more than $249, with older GeForce 600 cards still on the market for lower price segments. It’s possible that NVIDIA will release a new GK104 or GK106 based graphics cards for the $149-249 price segment, to compete with AMD’s Radeon R9 270X and R7 260X, but for now that is still up in the air.  NVDIA and AMD play off each other as the battle between them goes back and forth and on again, but at the end of the day that only helps the end-user get a better price.

NVIDIA is never one to just sit around on their laurels and await the bomb to drop so you know they will have something up their sleeve to keep them competitive in the sales game. NVIDIA has already been rumored to be working on 2 new cards as you read this article. NVIDA has already leaked that they will have a dual-GPU card based on GK110 cores, with a proposed nomenclature of the GeForce GTX 790. The GK110 silicon has also yet to be fully ‘unlocked’, with the GTX Titan using 2,688 of 2,880 CUDA cores on the die, meaning theirs is always room for a new high-end single-CPU card. As the holiday season is right around the corner it will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but lowering their prices can never be a bad thing for us so lets keep our fingers crossed. Thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow, where we love for you to interact on the site. Let us hear your thoughts and ideas in the comments down below.

As Valve unfolds its plans for their own SteamOS they also have been delving into another market as well and that is the PC business. Although they are not actually getting into the hardware side of things as of yet they are working with many companies to bring the “Steam Machine” concept right into your living room. NVIDIA may not be on your console platform, but has that slowed them down one iota? No way as the mean in Green and Black are focusing their attention in a market they know well. NVIDIA is now working with ORGIN and other top notch building houses to bring you their “BattleBox” PC that offers no compromise 4K gaming, but will it be priced like a Rolls Royce?

It seems NVIDIA has actually ventured beyond just the graphics card side of things and is now expanding their territory to include a line of PCs that will all be geared for living room entertainment systems. This could work out very well for NVIDIA as most gamers use Steam to play their games and unless forced to go elsewhere Steam is the first choice for gamers making this a strategically smart move for NVIDIA. Each different system in the new “BattleBox” line rocks a minimum of a pair of NVIDIA’s high-end GeForce Titan or GTX 780 video cards running in SLI, paired with overclocked Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and tremendous amounts of RAM to bring forth the gaming. The systems are designed to provide 4K-resolution gaming and that takes a lot of power.

nvidia-geforce-gtx-battlebox-sli-bridge-640px-100056360-large

These systems are rumored to pump out an impressive 45 to 60 frames per second at 4K-resolution with super-high detail settings and all of NVIDIA’s proprietary bells and whistle things like PhysX and TXAA anti-aliasing will be fully enabled. This is obviously a retaliation move to rub AMD noses in, as these systems will blow away any console that is even on paper at this point in time as no console will be able to pump out the pixels like the “BattleBox” will be able to, leaving AMD and its consoles in the dust. Now there is always a downside to the good things, and this time it is the price, as NVIDIA’s new boutique rigs will start off at the $2000.00 price point, which when compared to the $500.00 or so you might spend on a console seems very daunting indeed. If you want to get real crazy some pimped out systems like the Digital Storm Aventum II are rumored to cost an excess of $10,000.

nvidia-geforce-gtx-battlebox-batman-arkham-origins-4k-versus-hd-100056361-large

Another thing to consider is this: The price of a 4K monitor that right now is overtly expensive and not ready for the masses, making 4K gaming a dream until you can purchase the appropriate monitor. That does mean that you cannot game on your other 1920X1080 or 2560X1440 monitors or 3 of them in surround mode so all is not a waste, but this is not 4K and that seems to be the big push on the ‘BattleBox to get our attention lock. For now this all sounds really good, but extreme pricing and the absence of affordable 4K monitors make it more of a dream machine that anything actually affordable right now, although I am sure those with disposable cash will surely hop on the bandwagon from the onset, but most of us are not in that situation. There is no doubt in my mind that these will certainly blow any console graphics right out of the water, but at the cost they sell for I feel it will be a limited market. I think most of my readers are going to be like umm yes, but hell no as they can just go build their own personal Steam machine for a fraction of the cost. Thanks for reading tech Of Tomorrow. So what do you think of these newly proposed systems? Are they a winner or just too much money for the common man? Let us know in the comments below.

AMD fans have been holding their collective breath just waiting for something from AMD to come out and beat NVIDIA’s Titan, and if what we see on paper is true that time may just have arrived. AMD has flown out their hand-picked reviewers for an event in Hawaii where they have dumped huge amounts of cash in order to not only announce their new products, but to insure those members of the press get the correct and accurate information from AMD about them. I am sure Hawaii is nice this time of year and since the silicon is code-named Hawaii, why not?

It seems though that has also led to a few new leaks about AMD’s latest venture, the Radeon R9-290X will be surfacing in the near future and here is what we have heard thus far about it. The new Hawaii XT (GCN 2.0) R9-290X has 2816 stream processors, split among 44 clusters. Most likely we will see 64 ROPs (render output units), and around 176 TMUs (texture mapping units). The GPU should be clocked at around 900MHz, and there will be a fast 512-bit memory bus to GDDR5 RAM. The leaked benchmarks peg the Radeon R9-290X as equal or slightly faster than NVIDIA’s GTX Titan, and around 10% faster than the GTX 780; and if it’s priced right, it could put AMD back in the driving seat.

r9-290x-graphics-card-top-640x326

AMD is also slated to release its new Graphics Core Next or GCN 2.0 technology sometime this week as well as chips based on GCN 2.0 including Hawaii, Hawaii Pro and Hawaii XT, all supposedly coming this October. Once the NDA lifts and actual cards are around all these new technologies can be torn apart and explained, but for now we at least know for sure AMD is coming back on the attack. From the photos that have been leaked there are 16 memory chips, which would indicate that the R9-290X has a 512-bit memory bus to 4GB of GDDR5 RAM (rather than 384-bit, which is usually associated with 12 chips). The die size of the chip (which is presumed to be the Hawaii XT) is estimated to be around 424 millimeters square larger than the Radeon 7970′s GPU (Tahiti XT), but smaller than GTX Titan’s GK110.

AMD-Hawaii-R9-290X-Bioshock-Infinite

So far this all sounds like solid stuff and if what we see from the leaks is real, the R9-290X posts up to 10% better performance than the Titan. From previous leaks, we believe that the Hawaii XT has up to 2816 stream processors, split among 44 clusters, with up to 64 ROPs and 176 TMUs. It will almost certainly be built by TSMC on its 28nm process. The chip will be clocked at around 900MHz, but there’s been nothing yet on the memory bus speed, but we can assume it will be fast. The graphs we show below are from leaks around the world and In the benchmarks below the graphic card’s name has been blanked out, but it’s probably the R9-290X, but it could also be the Hawaii Pro-based R9-290 (which will probably be quite similar to the X, just clocked slower). If this does pan out to be true, which I hope it does, AMD will once again move forward on the chessboard.

Tomb Raider Unigine Valley Alien vs Predator 3

Being that the new card seems to be just a bit faster than the current Titan it seems that he who has the best price will be the dominator for at least a few months and we all know AMD usually is the price point contender. If AMD continues in that trend, I am sure they will see a huge rise in their sales and new blood never hurts a waning market. Industry sources state that a $600 price point is set for the R9-290X, which would put it well below the GTX Titan’s $1,000 price tag, and cheaper even than the $650 GTX 780. NVIDIA is not one to stand around on laurels and you can be damn sure they stay in the game and AMD will force them to lower prices and offer more, which in turn is only good for the end user who has to shell out the cash to buy them. Maxwell Keplar’s successor will hit the shelves in 2014, but for right now AMD can be in a pretty sweet spot for the next few months and holiday season. When the cards do hit the market we will begin the actual testing and reviews of them and I do not think we have long to wait. Thanks for reading tech Of Tomorrow, AMD fans today is the dawn of a new era for the desktop GPU, welcome home.

As of this morning, Apple is now offering a new line of iMacs available directly through the online store, featuring improvements in the processor, graphics card, Wi-fi adapter, and newer flash storage options.

They’ll now all be featuring 4th generation quad core processors, with the basic  21.5” iMac having a 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, while the 27-inch iMacs and High end 21.5-inch iMac can have up to 3.4 GHz.

As far as the graphics cards go, the baseline model includes Iris Pro Graphics as an integrated graphics card, while higher models can be customized with Geforce 700 series grapphics cards going as high as the GTX 780M for maximized performance for those looking to game or do some heavy 3d modeling. The iMacs also include the newest generation of 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which if paired with the proper base can lead to what Apple estimates to be 3 times the speed of the previous generation.

“iMac continues to be the example that proves how beautiful, fast and fun a desktop computer can be,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. As we said earlier, these new options are currently already available via Apple’s online store, and should be made available shortly at Apple stores and other approved retailers.

Storage options are numerous, including new and improved PCIe flash storage that apple claims can increase the speed of flash and fusion based storage devices by 50%. An all flash storage model is available at 1TB of storage, while Apple is also offering their fusion drives that combine the speed of a flash drive with the capacity of a hard drive available in both 1TB and 3TB options. While the standard option includes 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive, options are available to upgrade these to as high as 32GB of RAM and a 3TB hard drive, with all models coming with 2 Thunderbolt ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports.
